Dedicated to grasping, growing, wondering, asking, hoping, seeing, and seeking is how we know God.
Man is unique in that God has given us a choice to build a relationship with
the Father, His Son, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Angels marvel at this relationship.
Excerpt from a Riddle in a Paradox: This conversation between God and Tom illustrates how God works in our lives to bring us to understand who HE is. We have to do the work to have that relationship by discovering who God is.

"Everything I made rests on my truth.
Truth is the strongest foundation there is."
"Think about a house," God said.
"A house stands strong when it's built on bedrock."
God smiled.
"Your heart needs a strong foundation too."
[Tom comes to understand a truth]
"So You cannot lie?"
"I cannot." God's voice grew quiet.
"Why not?"
"Lies are like water on sand," God said.
"They wash things away,
even the things the heart wants to keep."
Tom thought for a moment.
"So truth keeps lies from taking root," Tom said softly.
"Yes," God replied. "Truth stands strong."
Tom looked up.
"People say You love me.
How do I know that's true?"
"My love never leaves," God said gently.
"But it is your choice to trust Me."
Tom thought for a moment. "I feel safe with You, but why do I choose?" Tom asked.
"Because love cannot be forced," God said.
"I did not make you like a tree, rooted in one place.
I gave you a heart that can choose to come close or turn away."
"So the riddle wasn't about the rock." Tom realized.
"No," God said. "It was about what you build your heart upon."
Tom looked down, thinking.
"The safest place to stand is on truth."
God smiled.
Tom smiled too.

Building a relationship is a gradual process that takes time and trust. It does not happen all at once.
Knowing God, talking to God, and understanding His Word is a journey with Heaven as the final destination. The destination is known but not the road map. There are many detours along the way. Some detours we create, and some are placed before us by others, circumstances, consequences, and life in general.
Jesus said, "This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." (John 17:3)
We are not alone to wonder how.
"The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things." (John 14:26) God created man after the fall from heaven with this specific opportunity to know God and with a free will to choose.
A relationship grows when it is maintained by giving time and effort, staying through the hard times, and never giving up or losing hope.
Our life journey is given to man as a time to discover who God is. We have a teacher who meets us where God is already at work.
Sometimes our approach to knowing God is a conversation where we listen with our heart and ask earnest questions with a readiness to listen and enjoy the moments of discovering how special it is to have a relationship with the Creator of the universe.
