Autumn Breeze by RLBrown

Snuggled in a blanket,
thick socks warm my toes.
Hot latte melts my insides.
Fall breeze tickles my nose.
Achoo

Hay bales decorate storefronts
with scarecrows and pumpkins.
Overalls adorn with autumn hues,
there sit two country bumpkins.
 Achoo-ACHOO!

It’s a crisp autumn day,
lacking yesterday's heat.
Local parade opens fair season,
Now is time for a delicious treat.
ACHOO - Achoo- ACH...

A visit to the pumpkin patch
on a sunny afternoon,
thick with particulates
no one is immune.
Achoo, Achoo, and ACHOO!

The Harvest Moon engulfs the sky,
with reddish orange glow.
Cinnamon spice perfumes the air.
“Caw ,” cries a very scary crow.
Achoo, ACHOO

Slow down and take the time
to make a pot of savory stew.
Breathe in and enjoy the season
even with a sneeze or two.
Achoo

Autumn Breeze by RL Brown October 2020

Snuggled in a blanket, thick socks warm my toes, a hot latte melts my insides, and a fall breeze tickles my nose. Achoo!
Hay bales decorate storefronts with scarecrows and pumpkins, adorn with autumn hues. It’s a typically crisp autumn day, lacking the humidity and heat of yesterday. ACHOO – Achoo.
A visit to the pumpkin patch on a sunny afternoon, thick with particulates and allergens visibly floating in the air. Achoo, Achoo, and ACHOO!
The Harvest Moon fills the evening sky, the horizon allowing only the yellow, orange, and red hues to filter through – Achoo, ACHOO!
The smell of cinnamon and spices and a warm pot of stew remind me of fall and winter coming soon. Achoo!
The Harvest Moon disappears for another year as the fall wind blows the dust away and brings winter’s crisp, clean air. Time to slow down, look around, and breathe in this fall season, even with a sneeze or two.

The Halloween Limerick Parade
By Rhonda Bronte Brown

Pumpkin lanterns glimmer golden and bright.
Hallo’s Eve excitement fills the valley tonight.

But who else is stirring in the dark?
Vincent roams the skies by night,
sniffing out nectar to bite.
The flowers all hide,
from this mischievous glide,
then open by dawn’s first light.

Vincent isn’t the only wanderer tonight…
Jasper, the ghost, refuses to float.
Over water his stomach would bloat.
Nightshades take pity,
ferry him to the city,
cruising the moat in a boat.

Across the fields, something drifts on the breeze…

Nettie the spider tosses silk threads.
The wind sweeps her over the farmstead.
Free now to roam,
in search of a home,
she spins a web by the woodshed.

Down the hill, wheels begin to rattle…
Shelton Bones travels by scooter,
never once honking his hooter.
Ghosts cry “Yoo-hoo!”
Bats screech “Boo-hoo!”
Downhill he skids past Rooster.

And waiting quietly in a pumpkin patch…

Pumpkin Pete sits in a patch looking grim,
wishing a spooky face suited him.
Along comes a charmer,
a masterful carver.
Pete beams at guests entering the inn.

High above the glowing lantern…
Luna wishes to fly by moonlight,
seeking a steady moonbeam for her flight.
Sudden hullabaloo,
in swoops a cockatoo!
Tail-spinning, Luna flits away in fright.

But all roads lead somewhere on Halloween…

On one spooky Halloween night,
friends wander under the moonlight.
A ghost in a boat,
a spider afloat,
Pete lights the inn warm and bright.

Vincent swoops low through the air,
Shelton skids in without care.
Gathering at the inn,
all welcome within,
for Halloween fun, they share.

The Halloween parade has arrived!

Lanterns glow golden and bright.
Laughter rings out through the night.

Hallo's Eve comes once a year
certain creatures reappear.

Pumpkin faces scare the dead,
filling ghouls full of dread.

Jack-o-Lantern fools the gnome,
we're disguised and free to roam.

House to house we seek sweet treats,
pumpkin lights line the street.

Fading fast and hard to see
spirits hiding in the tree.

one, two, three, four
"EEK," and away they soar.

Pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin face
side by side we'll win this race.

Round the corner, house insight,
dare we run with all our might.

Safe inside we dance with glee.
Jack-o-Lantern smiles at me.

A Wedding Blessing for my son and new daughter by RL Brown

Daniel and Serah’s

Wedding Blessing

Today, we witness

two different people,

two different families,

two different cultures,

two different languages,

two different countries.

Two different worlds meet.

In this paradox stands Daniel and Serah.

Daniel mirrors the strength of an Oak Tree.

Serah embodies the beauty of the Cherry Blossom.

Both are unique individuals and grounded in Jesus.

These two different worlds unite with Daniel and Serah.

A verse in Colossians speaks of being rooted in faith, growing in

knowledge, and overflowing with gratitude- one faith, one hope, one Lord.

The cord of faith in Jesus binds you together, and dreams for your future begin

this day with God’s guiding hand of love. Your faith in Jesus, the fullness of hope,

and love for each other tie you two as one. The truth is you become one as you blend

your lives to complement each other. We pray God’s blessing for your health,

wealth, and happiness and for wisdom as you begin your journey together.

Love Mama and Papa
